Where will the Peace Lab be held?
Peace Lab is a 7 day residential program that will be held at a retreat center in central Mississippi.

Who is Peace Lab designed for?
Rising high school juniors and seniors.

How much will it cost me?
We plan to offer the Peace Lab at no cost to participants. We are currently in fundraising mode so we can feed you great southern food, rent a retreat center where you will meet and sleep, rent a van for visiting historic sites, and buy all materials and supplies.

What will the days be like?
A mix of presentations, group activities, arts integration, trips to Mississippi history sites, food, fun. There will be some activities that happen every day like hearing success stories of peacemakers, debriefing, expressing yourself in art and words.

Can I ask my Uncle Bob to donate?
Absolutely. Here’s the QR code.

How do I apply?
Here’s the QR code to get updates and notification when applications open.

What is the deadline?
No later than June 30. However, we will give priority to people who apply by May 31 and cannot promise to have space for additional participants.

What’s in it for me?
Personal growth. A great group of friends you will probably stay in touch with forever. Make sense out of this crazy world. Learn how the past and the present are connected. See and hear from adult peace practitioners. Figure out how you want to show up to the world.

What about transportation from my home to the Peace Lab location?
To be decided later. (We would love to raise enough money to help pay for travel for out-of-state participants.)

Is this Peace Lab only for Mennonites?
No. We welcome anyone who is interested in exploring peacemaking. We actually prefer to have a mix of Mennonites and non-Mennonites. At the same time, Open Door Mennonite Church is the host, and Peace Lab will be taught from our historic Anabaptist peacemaking stance.

Is this Peace Lab only for Christians?
No. Our participants may or may not call themselves Christian. At the same time, Open Door is the host, and Peace Lab will be taught from our viewpoint of following Jesus’s teaching and example. We are planning the curriculum for a broad range of participants

Is this Peace Lab only for straight, white, cisgender participants?
No. You are welcome to come and be affirmed as you are. We plan to have a safe environment for all participants.
